A small sculpture of mine is included in the upcoming Summer Salon Exhibition at Art Share LA. This is a group show featuring over 60 artists! The show runs from August 12th to September 2nd and the opening reception is on August 12th from 7 PM-10 PM. The exhibition will happen alongside Summer Salon Sets, multidisciplinary performances involving poetry, music, and dance starting at 7:30 PM.

If you can make it, I would love to see you there!
New Job!✨🪛📐✂️🔨🧵🪚📦📏✏️🌟

I also want to mention some exciting personal news (related to art!). I just started a 9 month-long apprenticeship in art preparation through The Broad! The apprenticeship program is called the Diversity Apprenticeship Program and I am part of a group of 10 apprentices training to become art preparators through guidance provided by The Broad and several other partner sites in LA County. I’m looking forward to learning more about the museum and art handling worlds and increasing my skills in installation and fabrication through the various mentorship opportunities this program provides. I hope to learn enough skills to eventually help fellow emerging artists install and pack their works and increase the quality and scale of my own works!
🌟My last month at Arts at Blue Roof🌟
I can’t believe it has been a bit over two months since I finished my 4 month-long residency at Arts at Blue Roof. The A Room of One’s Own residency was one of the most supportive and generous residencies I have been a part of. I’m thankful for the dedicated studio space and resources provided to me during the program. I feel like I grew so much artistically in the span of just a few months. I especially appreciate the guidance provided to me by Lisa Diane Wedgeworth, Connie Martin Travino, Claudia Huiza, and Galia Linn along the way! I had my first-ever solo show and met so many wonderful artists during my time at Arts at Blue Roof. I was also able to share my work with many new and familiar faces. I am so grateful to those who stopped by to see the show!
Here are some photos of the opening and the show:
There are a few days left to apply to the A Room of One’s Residency, by the way! I highly recommend it. The deadline is August 15th. Apply here!
🪄Bonus Content! 😊
Thanks to Arts at Blue Roof, I was featured in an article in Art and Cake Magazine. I was interviewed by Kristine Schomaker for the Artist Spotlight series. I am glad I got the chance to share even more about my work and process. Check it out here!
During the last month of my residency, I was interviewed by my friend Julia Rigby (an amazing artist!) as part of my artist talk for the show. The interview has finally been posted on the Arts at Blue Roof Youtube page. If you would like to watch and hear a little bit about my art-making process and thoughts behind my show “Creature Comforts,” you can click on the video below.
(Unfortunately, the upload quality is not great but if it gets fixed I will update the newsletter).
